Abstract.
The article examines the language representation of the concept “fire” in the Karachay-Balkar language (by the material of the Nart saga). Fire as one of the elements of the universe is sacred and at the same time omnivorous and bearing the initiation. In the Karachay-Balkar linguo-culture fire is the Sun’s son and Tengri’s grandson and is shown in various images. Fire symbolizes home, hearth, and it is also a part of heavenly fire. The concept “fire” has its own nucleus, near and far peripheries, which denote various features, actions and forms.
