THE OPPOSITION OF THE CONCEPTS NEW EUROPE - OLD EUROPE IN THE MASS MEDIA DISCOURSE OF THE USA

Abstract. The article is devoted to the research of the image of Europe in the mass-media discourse of the USA at the beginning of the XXI century. The image of Europe is considered as the conceptual system, presented in the form of the binary opposition NEW EUROPE - OLD EUROPE. The author reveals the notion of the binary opposition principle, which underlies the principle of reflection of the world in human consciousness. The main content of the article is the analysis and comparison of the concepts and NEW EUROPE and OLD EUROPE.
