Abstract. The paper deals with the problem of language interference which arises while learning English for specific purposes. In this connection the groups of interfering units, having a negative and positive influence on learning and mastering the language of a foreign communication majoring “Oil and Gas Engineering” are considered and determined. With the support of the author’s experience methodological techniques for prevention of destructive and using constructive interference in translation and professionally-oriented speech activity in the studying language are presented.
