Abstract.
The article aims to describe the basic concepts forming the constant of social essence of the Tver merchant Mikhail Matveevich Tyulpin - the author of the “Chronicle of Events in Tver of 1762-1823". The analysis of the means to represent the concept MERCHANT included into the conceptual sphere of the “Chronicle of Events in Tver …” contributes to identifying the specifics of Mikhail Tyulpin’s worldview as a representative of the merchants at the turn of the XVIII- XIX centuries.
