INTER-GENRE INTERACTION POETICS IN THE STORY BY A. S. BYATT “THE DJINN IN THE NIGHTINGALE'S EYE”

Abstract.
The article analyzes the specifics of inter-genre interaction in the small prose work by A. S. Byatt “The Djinn in the Nightingale's Eye”. The analysis involves studying the mechanism for re-interpreting the components of a tale genre in the context of a story and vice versa. Studying the poetics of a cross-genre game, the researcher relies on the original definition of a story genre proposed by the writer who emphasizes the synthesis of folk and realistic planes of narration as the basis of its poetics.
