Abstract.
In the article the authors consider the basic principles of universal design and formation of the barrier-free environment: accessibility, comfort, safety, information content, and environmental components; analyze the methods of studying them in the educational process and the use during the designing of the objects of universal design, and demonstrate the examples of students’ work. The problem of creating the accessible environment for people with limited mobility, which is an integral part of social policy of the state, is actualized. The described methods are applied in the realization of special disciplines for the students studying “Design”.
