Abstract.
The article is devoted to studying the cases of metaphorical use of the adjectives with temperature connotations in the Swedish and Russian languages. Semantic analysis of the adjectives is based on the provisions of the cognitive theory of metaphor. The author provides comparative analysis of metaphorical use of the hot spectrum adjectives, examines the basic trends of metaphorical development and the adjective meaning transfer in the languages under study.
