Abstract. The article considers one of the central problems of modern linguistics - the problem of vocabulary and grammar interaction at the level of the language system description. Within the framework of the lexical grammar theory the authors study the mechanism of lexical and grammatical semantics interaction and the principle of their compatibility in the structure of a word as a grammatically structured sign of the human’s communicative system. Domestic researchers’ opinions and points of view concerning the dialectical interrelation of form and content in the language are given in support of the relevancy of this approach.
