BLACK COLOUR SYMBOLISM (BY THE MATERIAL OF THE ENGLISH LANGUAGE)

Abstract. The colour plays a vital role in the human life and finds its clear manifestation in symbolism. The paper examines the means to identify the black colour symbolism by allonyms and semantic markers; the author makes a comparison of using black colour as a symbol in the literary works of a special type of fiction - “fantasy” of the British and American authors.
