THE ANALYSIS OF MECHANISMS OF UNDERSTANDING AND USE OF CAUSATIVE STATEMENTS FROM THE PERSPECTIVE OF THE FRAME-BASED APPROACH

Abstract.
The article deals with the process of understanding and use of statements with the causative semantics from the perspective of the frame-based approach. This approach assumes the construction by a speaker and a listener in pronouncing and perception of causative statements of a certain model (frame) for their understanding. The authors present the results of the analysis within the framework of cognitive experiment describing the mechanisms of understanding and use of causative statements. The analysis has showed that the top levels of the frame, containing the semantic information about the notion “cause” and syntactic patterns of causative statements, are filled in almost equally by the respondents. The terminals of the lower levels are realized by the respondents in different ways - on the basis of the level of background knowledge, that is, individual experience, level of education and so on.
