Abstract.
The article is devoted to analyzing the influence of a cheap literature genre on the novel “The Gambler” by F. M. Dostoyevsky. The authors focus on such aspects of the novel as the peculiarities of plot structure, themes and characters of the certain personages who are typical for the cheap literature genre and find the cross-points between the novel “The Gambler” and the works by Eugène Sue and Paul de Kock. Love multi-angles, intrigues, incredible coincidences, deafening winnings and shattering losses - the elements of the novel which relate “The Gambler” plot with the creative work of the cheap literature classics.
