Abstract.
The article is devoted to the study of results of one of the basic tendencies of language development - the process of archaization, leading to the fact that part of the lexical language structure goes to the periphery and is used by the native speakers very little or isn’t used at all, remaining only in literary and scientific and historical sources. The authors attempt to classify codified archaisms on the basis of thematic groups, uniting them according to the generality of nomination of corresponding objects or reality phenomena. At the same time productive and nonproductive headings of archaic vocabulary are revealed.
