Abstract. This article acquaints readers with the linguocultural approach to the transformation of the semantic content of particular lexical units of the Spanish and German languages under the influence of the recent geopolitical events in Europe and substantiates the contemporary realities. On the basis of the information presented in the Russian and foreign mass media the authors analyze the political situation in Spain and Germany and show the appropriate language changes, marking the existing similarities and singling out features specific to each country.
