Abstract.
In this article the authors discuss the main characteristics and functions of the invective used in professional discourse. The object of the research is the ways, means, tactics and strategies of intra- and interprofessional communication in the Russian and English languages. The study of the level status system peculiarities is carried out by means of linguistic analysis with the elements of comparison. The result is the identification of the differences of using invective nominations in high and low registers, as well as the possibility of invective units realization according to the norms generally accepted in the professional community.
