Abstract. In this paper the image of a woman is considered as a constant of Evenk culture. In order to describe the national specificity of the concept the authors examine the images of women presented in Evenk heroic legends, and also give an analysis of the responses of Evenk native speakers obtained in the course of a free associative experiment. The experiment results confirm that for a modern Evenk native speaker the line “woman-mother as a head of family” is relevant to this day and is a constant of Evenk culture.
