Abstract.
The article analyzes the destiny of the metre and rhythmic forms approved by M. V. Lomonosov in the treatise devoted to verses “Letter about the Rules of the Russian Versification” in broad historical and cultural context. The emphasis is on the spread of the non-classical metres of dactyl-choree and iambus-anapaest that played a special role in the actualization of the tonic nature of the Russian verse, which led to the reform of the classical accentual-syllabic verse at the turn of the XIX-XX centuries. The metre-rhythmic processes of the XVIII-XX centuries are embedded in the evolution of the intonation types, as well as in the processes of the interaction of the Russian verse with other art forms.
