Abstract.
The article analyzes the tragedy by the Kabardian playwright, national writer of the Kabardino-Balkar Republic and cultural figure Boris Kuneevich Utizhev “Tyrgatao”. The author lists the critical articles of Kabardian theatrical critics on this tragedy. The issue about the topicality of the study of the creative work of the playwright and his innovation in the Kabardian dramaturgy is raised. The paper also examines the role and place of the tragedy “Tyrgatao” in the playwright’s creative work and in the Kabardian dramaturgy in general. Besides, it highlights the playwright’s mastery in the use of artistic techniques, for example, such as “telling names”.
