Abstract. The article deals with the peculiarities of semantic organization of phraseological units of the Russian language with such somatisms as neck, shoulder, side, back. The complexity of the semantic structure of somatic phraseological units (SPU) and the presence of the word-dominant, integral and differential semes are shown; the possibility of formation of semantic micro fields is noted. The analysis of the linguistic material allows drawing conclusions that for the majority of SPU the specific features of the phraseological unit, meaning integrity, variability of components, figurativeness, emotional and expressive coloration and so on are typical, and SPU are mostly verbal.
