Abstract.
In the article allusion as a special technique of intertextuality and its role in the creation of women’s characters in the dilogy by D. H. Lawrence “The Rainbow” and “Women in Love” are studied. The author singles out the main types of allusions and identifies their functions and peculiarities of using in the text. Particular attention is drawn to the analysis of precedent names and facts, and their role in creating the multifaceted women’s characters of the novels.
