Abstract.
The article analyzes the works of contemporary Russian writers L. Ulitskaya and L. Petrushevskaya on the subject of intertextual relations with the works of A. P. Chekhov. The character of borrowings from the works of the classic, and the influence of postmodernism are evaluated. The analysis of the causes of such reduced reading of classical texts by so bright representatives of postmodernism as Ulitskaya and Petrushevskaya presents a special practical interest of the paper. According to the author’s view, contemporary writers caught “the Chekhov’s wave” most keenly, actualizing the Chekhov images and at the same time distorting them in favor of modern and post-modern trends.
