Abstract.
The article considers the notion “cross-cultural communication”. The most characteristic features from the viewpoint of pedagogy and culturology are revealed. The difficulties, associated with the various perception of one and the same message by a sender and an addressee who belong to different cultures, are analyzed. Different methods of the development of cross-cultural competence, which is the decisive factor in overcoming the language and cultural barriers, are considered.
