Abstract. The article discusses the issues related to the formulation of objectives, selection of training content and choice of the approach to teaching the subject "History and culture of the English-speaking countries" to the future bachelors of Linguistics, who chose the profession of a foreign language teacher. The author gives the examples from the experience of the work program development and teaching this discipline in Tambov State University named after G. R. Derzhavin.
