Abstract.
The article is devoted to studying the compositional and stylistic peculiarities of the sermons by St. Ignatius Brianchaninov. The author proposes an approach to address the relevant problem of the modern literary criticism which involves identifying the individual style of the most authoritative ecclesiastical writers. Analyzing the works included into the “Ascetic Experiences” the author concludes on the meaningfulness of their compositional architectonics and shows how the laconism and simplicity of sermon language are harmoniously combined with the virtuosic use of figurative-expressive means.
