Submitted: November 1, 2016
Abstract. The article considers the argotic phraseological units, which include proper names or their homonyms. These constructions are studied in terms of their structure, semantics, and origin. It is mentioned that the largest number of such phraseological units contain the homonyms of anthroponyms and toponyms in their composition. The phenomena of synonymy, antonymy and polysemy peculiar to these units are analyzed. The author concludes that the meaning of a set expression can be motivated by a national proper name, common argotism (slang expression) - homonym of a proper name, or can approach to the meaning of one of its components.
