Abstract.
The article considers the nature of phrasal verbs in English and their specific use in fiction for creating a comic effect by the example of P. G. Wodehouse’s novel «Right Ho, Jeeves». The scientific novelty of the research consists in the identification of the peculiarities of functioning of the three-word and two-word phrasal verbs in the combination of different registers in one context - informal and formal speech - as a key means of creating comicality of characters, comicality of situations and verbal comicality.
