ON THE AMBIVALENCE OF RELATIONS BETWEEN “THE NATIVES” AND “OUTSIDERS” (BY THE MATERIAL OF THE OLD RUSSIAN WRITTEN MONUMENTS)

Abstract.
The article for the first time by the material of the Old Russian chronicles examines the problem of ambivalence in the relations between “the natives” and “the outsiders”. The author identifies the basic motives to manifest ambivalence and from this viewpoint discovers the certain peculiarities of “natives’” attitude to the “outsiders”, the specificity of contrast neutralization in the mentioned binary opposition. Ambivalence is considered as an essential feature of the Old Russian’s inner world formed by the scale of contrasting feelings and emotions.
