Abstract.
The article deals with the derivational models of prefixation as a part of subject registers of the English scientific speech. The paper states the conditionality of the prefixal elements choice by the specificity of thematic organization of scientific disciplines. The common prefixal meanings in the structure of the sciences and humanities terminologies are identified. In terms of discursive pragmatics high productivity of neoclassical formants is shown. The author investigates the cases of interdisciplinary and intradisciplinary variability of prefixes and their synonymous relations.
