THE TYPE OF CHARACTER-ADVENTURER IN A. TOLSTOY’S PROSE OF THE 1910-1920S

Abstract.
In the first decades of the XX century A. N. Tolstoy in search of a new character and artistic forms along with his contemporaries resorted to the adventure genre. This article discusses two novels by A. Tolstoy: “Rastegin’s Adventures” (1913) and “Nevzorov’s Adventures, or Ibikus” (1925). The analysis of these works manages to show the result of A. Tolstoy’s work with the character-adventurer during ten years: from the satirical sketch of a trickster in the story about Rastegin to the complete and historically conditioned image of the adventurer Nevzorov.
