Abstract. The article describes the first steps of Mongolian XX century dramaturgy. In the first years after proclaiming People’s Republic (1924) Mongolian literature applied, first of all, to the poetical and song genres. Of equal importance was dramaturgy which took its origin from the theatrical group established under the Revolutionary Youth Union. The key role in the formation of Mongolian XX century dramaturgy belongs to S. Buyannemekh (1902-1937), the author of the first theatrical performances, actor, and stage director.
