Abstract.
The article is devoted to the study of literary text in order to identify a value code of the linguistic culture. The analysis of the text of the essay “In Praise of Shadows” by Jun'ichirō Tanizaki is performed through axiological approach. As a result of the study of the text the authors reveal “ways out” from the components of the essay to the fragments of the traditional Japanese culture and Japanese language. The reconstruction of the aesthetic beauty code is carried out.
