Abstract.
Comparison is the most important universal method for studying linguistic phenomena. One of the topical problems in the field of linguistics is the problem of comparative study of both kindred and genetically distant from each other languages. The article deals with the comparative analysis of the Arabic masdar (verbal noun) and the English gerund with the purpose of revealing the similarities and differences of the same elements in the structure of the languages of different systems.
