Abstract.
The article presents the effective methods of development of communicative competence in classes of a foreign language, developed by the German researcher W. Mattes. The author describes the rules of organizing and conducting studies using these techniques which also help to enhance cognitive activity of students, their independence and to develop culture of creative and operative thinking.
