Abstract.
This article examines phraseological units in the language of German youth. The authors consider the contradiction, consisting in the discrepancy between the existing definitions of the idiom and this notion in the youth language. The current trends of youth using slang vocabulary in speech are described. Some examples of the use of different classes of set expressions in the German youth language are presented.
