DICTIONARY PREFERENCES OF STUDENTS STUDYING ENGLISH LANGUAGE

Abstract. The article summarizes the results of the author’s observations in the field of learning and use of the lexical material by students, studying English language. The conditions, affecting the choice of a synonym in the written texts of students, are determined. By the examples of several pairs or numbers of synonyms it is shown that the dictionary preferences of students are influenced by certain factors.
