MONTAGE TECHNIQUE AS A METHOD OF DEPICTING ISTANBUL IN DOS PASSOS’ PROSE

Abstract.
The article is devoted to the detailed analysis of the chapter on Constantinople in J. Dos Passos’ collection of travel notes “Orient Express” (1927). It is assumed that it was in “Orient Express” that author’s style began to be formed with the use of montage technique in order to convey the contradictory image of the city. On the basis of the analysis, it is ascertained that different types of montage are used in the work, they are sequential, sound, associative, parallel and analytical.
