Abstract.
The main methods of creating images of churches in Solzhenitsyn’s novel “In the First Circle” are considered in the article. The analysis of fragments of the work containing the description of churches is carried out. The presence of church attributes in the novel emphasizes the constant appeal of the Russian people to the Orthodox faith. Biblical themes are embodied in the motives of Christmas, the Ark, Salvation and Resurrection. The image of the destroyed Orthodox churches represents the process of aggressive displacement of the spiritual principle from everyday people’s life.
