THE METHOD OF PARODYING IN WOODY ALLEN’S ESSAYS

Abstract.
In the article the linguo-stylistic analysis of parodying in the literary works of Woody Allen, a vivid representative of the American humorous tradition, is conducted. The importance of the vertical context in his essays, which turns the reading of the works into an intellectual game, is noted. The author analyzes a number of essays and justifies the thesis that the masterful parodying of various genres and discourses allows Woody Allen to appeal to reader’s knowledge, to realize his ideas and to create a humorous effect.
