Abstract. The article examines how codeswitching affects the speech of bilinguals and other linguistic personalities. The representatives of the Russian and foreign linguistic schools began to study codeswitching as a separate phenomenon in the early 60s of the last century. The research of the psychological aspect of codeswitching is important for linguists, since this phenomenon, before its formal expression in speech, passes a certain algorithm in the mind of a person. The author makes an attempt to understand how cognitive thinking can influence a particular linguistic system and what consequences the process of codeswitching has for the future of linguistics.
