WANG MENG’S “A YOUNG MAN COMES TO THE ORGANIZATIONAL DEPARTMENT”: THE MEETING OF THE CHINESE LITERATURE WITH A NEW SOCIALIST REALITY

Abstract.
The article deals with the artistic originality of one of Wang Meng’s earliest works - “A Young Man Comes to the Organizational Department”, which is based on the autobiographical facts of the outstanding master of the modern Chinese literature. Special attention is given to the analysis of the process of spiritual transformation of a young intellectual hero, who comes face to face with a new harsh reality against the background of the beginning social upheavals. As a result of this research, the author for the first time reveals the characteristic artistic tendencies and the typological features in the assertion of the intellectual hero’s image in the works of the writers of the Russian and Chinese “metropolis” literature of the post-revolutionary period.
