Abstract.
The article studies models and schemes to form colour terms in the Avarian language. The authors argue that colour as a component of culture acquires a complicated and diversified system of meanings, interpretations and becomes a representation of cultural values. The analysis of colour terms indicated the close relation of language and culture, the ability of colour terms to transfer national and cultural information, specificity of the Avarian people’s material and spiritual life, their worldview and psychology. The study opens the prospects for further research of the Avarian colour worldview.
