THE NEWSPAPER “SEGODNYA” IN THE CONTEXT OF THE PRESS IN LATVIA DURING 1919-1940

Abstract.
The purpose of the article is to characterize the content of the Riga newspaper “Segodnya” in the 20-30s of the XX century and its socio-political focus on the basis of reference materials, scientific sources and publications of the edition. The author pays special attention to the analysis of historical and ethnopolitical conditions of the Latvian press functioning in the interwar period, which influenced the editorial policy of the newspaper - the main events from the life of the edition are given in chronological order. The research also contains the information about the founders, editorial staff and employees of the newspaper.
