Abstract.
The article describes the origin of taboo words and their connection with euphemisms. There are several examples of areas of human activity in which the words-taboo and euphemisms were the most common. This vocabulary began its functioning from ancient times and continues to be actively used. The main difference between the use of taboo and euphemisms is based on the perception of the use of this vocabulary. If previously euphemisms-tabooisms were pronounced consciously, now most of them are used by the native speakers at the unconscious level.
