MORAL UNDERSTANDING OF COURAGE IN THE ADYGHE HISTORICAL-HEROIC SONGS

Abstract.
Historical-heroic songs represent a whole layer of folk verbal art, which captures events that determined the socio-historical, cultural direction of the development of the Adyghe peoples. The main direction of historical-heroic songs is reflection of the defining qualities of warrior-knight’s ideal image, among which courage occupied a special place. The ideals of knightly morality included strict adherence to these standards. Courage in the system of the traditional Adyghe ethical values was associated with the features of the image of a “true man”, a warrior-knight. In this regard, the material of the Adyghe historical-heroic songs is used for the research and analysis.
