Abstract.
The article is devoted to analyzing the peculiarities of functioning of linguistic means expressing indefinite referential meaning in the German language. The paper provides the examples of indefinite reference at the different language levels: lexico-grammatical and syntactical. The authors identify linguistic means explicitly or implicitly indicating indefinite person, discover their dependence on contextual conditions, reveal the gradual nature of manifestation of indefinite person semantics among the certain linguistic means, and this makes the research relevant. The paper proposes ideas for further development of this research area.
