Abstract.
The article reveals the role of the estate of Tarkhany in the life and work of M. Yu. Lermontov. Firstly, the Central Russian nature, local traditions and customs, relatives and serfs had a great influence on the formation of a character, attitude, the conception of nature, the conception of life and the value system of Lermontov. Secondly, everything that is associated with Tarkhany is embodied in the soul of Lermontov and is represented in his work. Thirdly, Tarkhany is the source of the spiritual development of Lermontov. The subject of the study is the regional cultural and psychological originality of the creative work of M. Yu. Lermontov, conditioned by certain circumstances of the adolescent period of his life. This is the novelty of the research.
