Abstract.
In the article the female images of four early poems written by M. Yu. Lermontov (“The Last Son of Freedom”, “Confession”, “Angel of Death” and “Ismail-Bei”) are considered in the light of typical features of the characters of romantic poems. Each of the images presented is analyzed in detail at the semantic and stylistic levels. The author shows an important role of female images in M. Lermontov’s works, explains why they should be called “romantic heroines”, traces the autobiographical basis of poems.
