EXPRESSING THE CATEGORY OF PERCEPTIVENESS BY THE PAST PERFECT FORM

Abstract.
The article examines the functioning of the Russian tense forms in the statements with the conjunctions “что” and “как” introducing the perceived situation. When the simultaneousness/synchronicity of two situations - situation of perception and perceived situation - is expressed by one and the same Past Perfect tense form, the frequency of this tense form amounts to 44-28%. The range of coincidence is limited by the meaning of completeness. Simultaneous expression of the perceived situation and the situation of perception by full-value predicates occurs only in conjunctional complex sentences the frequency of which is high.
