THE GERMAN DISCURSIVE PARTICLES IN THE STRUCTURE OF MODALITY FIELD

Abstract.
The article identifies the place of discursive particles in the structure of functional-semantic field of modality. The authors show that the German discursive particles can transfer epistemic and deontic semantics. It allows referring them to the sphere of modal meanings. The peculiarity of discursive particles lies in the fact that specificity of modal meanings is determined only by contextual surroundings. Discursive particles do not appear in all types of texts and can’t be considered frequent, that’s why they can be referred to as periphery components of functional-semantic field of modality.
