SPECIFICITY OF INTERTEXTUAL LINKS IN NEWS DISCOURSE: A STUDY OF FRENCH PRESS

Abstract. The article analyzes the change in the nature of intertextual links in the French press discourse depending on the stage of covering a news event. Current intertextuality maintaining strong ties with source texts typically appears in news texts, which report events for the first time. Background intertextuality implicitly refers to prominent events, which become commonly known because of being often mentioned in the press. The present analysis takes into account not only linguistic, but also extralinguistic factors influencing the creation of intertextual links.
