Abstract. The article provides an analysis of rhetorical means contributing to the creation of the ISIL (Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant) image in the American political discourse. The research is based on the official speeches of the representatives of the American government, who tackle the issue of the USA military campaign of 2017-2018 against the prohibited in Russia terroristic organization ISIL. The authors describe in detail what rhetorical devices influence target audience to form and maintain the conceptions of criminality, anti-humanism and enmity of this organization.
